Fabric rendering with fiber-scale staple yarn models
Fabric simulation results are rendered more realistic with a sophisticated yarn model. To further enhance the realism of fabric simulation, this paper establishes a fiber-scale geometric model for staple yarns. Firstly, the mathematical model of sliver was established by considering the number of fibers in the cross-section within the sliver, the migration of fibers inside and outside, and the distribution of fiber length. Subsequently, parameters such as twist and twist direction were incorporated. For the first time, the formation of hairiness was associated with the migration of short fibers. A parameterized mathematical model of staple yarn was further established. Staple yarns and fabrics were simulated based on this model, and the simulation results showed that the virtual fabrics had clear texture and luster. By adjusting various parameters, the models developed in this paper enable the simulation of ring-spun yarns and fabrics with different appearances, offering broad application prospects.
