Perspectivas ideológicas del profesorado chileno de Educación Ciudadana: resultados de un cuestionario

This study analyses the ideological perspectives of Chilean Citizenship Education (CE) teachers in the context of the implementation of the new secondary education curriculum introduced in 2020. A questionnaire was designed and administered to a sample of 32 teachers from science-humanities schools in Santiago de Chile, with the aim of examining their ideological stances across four dimensions: Conservative, Liberal, Neoliberal, and Critical. The findings reveal that Liberal and Critical perspectives prevail, while the Conservative and Neoliberal dimensions generate more polarised responses. The results underscore the influence of teachers’ stances in CE and highlight tensions between the promotion of democratic principles and the persistence of conservative and neoliberal narratives. This study contributes to understanding how teachers’ ideological orientations may shape their teaching practices, emphasising the need for more inclusive and critical approaches to citizenship education.
