The image of a politician in the media - a factor in the spread of extremism

Modern society is characterized by constant transformation and active influence on all areas of information technology. This led to the active development and spread of extremism. Currently, extremism is one of the global problems of modern society, which is quite difficult to combat due to the features of the global Internet, which allow you to remain anonymous from anywhere in the world. However, the global Internet is not the only factor that leads to the active spread of extremism. The political sphere is full of contradictions and disagreements. In the modern world there is a continuous political race. Various states use all possible methods to whitewash their own country and create hostility towards the existing enemy. The media actively helps with this. The media often deliberately demonize the images of politicians, which leads to interstate hostility and conflicts. That is why the image of a politician in the media is one of the factors that leads to the spread of extremism in the world. Personal image making is becoming one of the key resources of geopolitical confrontation, which can lead to armed conflicts and clashes. For a deeper study of this topic, a content analysis was carried out, which allows us to clearly monitor the formation of a positive or negative image of a politician in the media. If this image is demonized, the level of negative sentiment in society increases not only towards the politician, but also towards all residents of the state in which he rules. This becomes the reason for the development of extremist sentiments along ethnic lines. The results obtained and the recommendations developed on their basis can be used by the Department of Civil Defense and Population Protection, the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism and Terrorism, the Department of Development of Mass Communications and International Cooperation to combat false information and prevent the development of extremism.
