Magnetically modified non-Magnetic Interpenetrating Polymer Network with CoFe2O4 as Magnetic Filler

In this paper, thin flexible sheets of polymer-magnetic oxides have been studied. For this, CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized using Auto Combustion method whereas thin sheets of CoFe2O4&IPN (Interpenetrating Polymer Network) of Polyurethane (PU) and Polystyrene (PS), In-situ polymerization has been carried out. X-ray diffraction peaks in polymer-magnetic oxides thin sheets confirms presence of CoFe2O4 in matrix of PU/PS which has also been confirmedfrom energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Microstructural analysis has carried out using scanning electron microscopy to study microstructural behavior. The S-shaped Magnetization vs. Magnetic hysteresis confirms presence of magnetic ordering. The decomposition behavior of sheets has also be studied using Thermo-Gravimetric analysis helps to study the effect of CoFe2O4 dispersion on weight loss of IPN whereas ε'& ε" vs. Frequency shows modification in dielectric properties due to CoFe2O4. The improvement in mechanical properties has been described from increase in elongation at beak of PU/PS with CoFe2O3 as ceramic filler.
