The effectiveness of the drug in the form of a spray based on phenylperazole and pyrethroids against blood-sucking dipterous insects and ixodid ticks

The article presents data on the study of the therapeutic and preventive effectiveness against ixodid ticks and the repellent effect against dipteran blood-sucking insects of a new domestic drug in the form of a spray based on phenylperazole and pyrethroids. To conduct the experiment, an experimental and control group of cats was formed. An experimental group of animals in the amount of 10 animals aged 3 – 15 years with a live weight of 2,5–4 kg, spontaneously infested with ixodes ticks Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes persulcatus, Dermacentor reticulatus and constantly exposed to attack by dipterous blood-sucking insects Haematobia stimulans, Aedes, Culex, Culiseta, Anopheles, Mansonia and others used an insectoacaricidal spray once at the rate of 0,5 ml (4 pumps) per 1 kg of live weight, pressing on the spray head, directing the aerosol torch onto the animal’s coat from a distance of 25–30 cm. Control group – group of analogues , the drug was not used. Before the start of the experiment and one day after treatment, subsequent ones – once on the 3rd, 5th and 7th days (to take into account dipteran insects) and for ixodidosis the animals were examined for 48 hours every hour, then every 7 days for a month. Based on the results of the experiment, it was revealed that the therapeutic acaricidal effect of the drug against ixodid ticks occurs on the third day, and the preventive effect in which the COD was above 3 % lasts 70 – 15 days, and the repellent effect is expressed on the third day and lasts 20 – 3 days.
