Cuidado Violão!
This article describes aspects of the musical practice of guitarist Mozart Secundino de Oliveira, taking it as a reference to examine the insertion of the comping guitar in the context of regional ensembles. Mozart had a fruitful performance in Belo Horizonte, obtaining recognition and notoriety in the last years of his life, between 2004 and 2015. He was involved with Choro in its various dimensions for approximately 70 years, playing with instrumentists who founded this style, and also with young inexperienced musicians. Some of these dimensions will be treated here as analytical categories, as is the case of the Roda de choro, the bass lines known as obligations, the improvised bass lines, and the regional group itself.
