Broadband DIAL of atmospheric greenhouse gases using pulsed laser diodes and correlation spectroscopy
Abstract Differential absorption lidar (DIAL) method is discussed that utilizes the spectral and energetic properties of high-power broadband laser diodes for detection of atmospheric greenhouse gases. DIAL system incorporates dual spectral channels tuned to selected wavelengths for optimal detection on the basis of configuration of paired or single laser diode with multiplexation of laser radiation. The range of the absorption spectrum is determined for retrieval of DIAL profiles of atmospheric humidity and methane less affected by atmospheric pressure and temperature allowing accurate measurement.
