Un desafío imposible para la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (1917-1934) : interpretar una constitución construida con dos filosofías opuestas

The text examines the challenge faced by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation in Mexico between 1917 and 1934 when interpreting a constitution that granted both individual and social rights. After the Mexican revolution, Álvaro Obregón and Lázaro Cárdenas attempted to limit the autonomy of the court to strengthen the executive branch, especially in agrarian issues. Although the court granted almost no agrarian amparos after the 1917 constitution, the publication of the agrarian regulation of 1922 signaled a change, and the court began to protect small properties and prioritize individual rights over social rights. For this reason, the constitutional reforms of 1928 and 1934 sought to facilitate land distribution and subordinate the Supreme Court.
