Reactive distillation: an inexpensive and sustainable alternative

Due to the current massive consumption of resources caused by industries and the consequences they bring, it is important to find new alternative processes that allow the development of sustainable resources. Reactive distillation is an example of one of these alternatives, it contributes many benefits when compared to conventional distillation. As a result, the impact of this technology covers different areas including industrial safety, economic and environmental care. The aim of this work is to summarize the main characteristics of reactive distillation and its potential to replace conventional processes through a bibliographic review.
