RECEIVING THE BALL WHILE DRIBLING OPPONENTS IN THESEMI-FINALS AND FINALS OF THE 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP

Abstract. Purpose of the study: determining the indicators of ball handling in various ways during dribbling by opponents in the semi-final and final matches of the 2022 World Cup. Materials and methods. Recovering the ball by methods: with a foot in a step, lunge, recovery, pulling, knocking the ball out of the opponent; in a tackle; pushing with the torso, body, shoulder; moving ahead of the opponent to the ball. Dribbling is an intensive, frequent, mainly at-speed dribbling of the ball by a player with the opponent’s opposition, sometimes with the use of feints, changes in direction, speed of movement, turns, in order to beat the opponent. Research methods: analysis of literature sources; pedagogical observation of ball interceptions during opponents’ dribbling using video recordings of matches; analysis of ball interceptions during dribbling; methods of mathematical statistics. Main results of the study: In the final and semi-final matches of the 2022 World Cup, players of the national teams of Argentina, Croatia, France, and Morocco took the ball from their opponents during dribbling an average of 37.83 times per match, of which 9.66 times were successful, 2.67 times incomplete, and 25.5 times unsuccessful. The most times they took the ball with their feet in a step, lunge, an average of 26.33 times, of which 5.83 were successful, 1.83 incomplete, and 18.66 unsuccessful. In a tackle, they took the ball away an average of 3.33 times per match, of which 1.16 times were successful, 0.5 times incomplete, and 1.66 times unsuccessful. The ball was won by the method of getting ahead of the opponent to the ball on average only 3.33 times per match, of which 1.66 times were successful, 0.16 times were incomplete and 1.5 times were unsuccessful. The most times were by the Argentine national team in the final match. Conclusions. When dribbling opponents, players most often took the ball with their feet in a step, lunge, on average 26.33 times per match, of which 70.86 % were unsuccessful. In a tackle, on average 3.33 times per match, of which 50 % were unsuccessful. With a shoulder push, body, on average 4.83 times per match, of which 75.8 % were unsuccessful. In getting ahead of the opponent to the ball, on average 3.33 times per match, of which 45 % were unsuccessful.
