THE IMPACT OF THE MILITARYHISTORICAL REENACTMENT METHOD ON GRENADE THROWING PERFORMANCE AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract. As of September 2024, in the context of the moscou-Ukrainian war, the issue of preparing youth for the defense of Ukraine is gaining increasing importance. Currently, there are several methods and organizations that incorporate the grenade throwing exercise. Additionally, schools offer a specialized subject, "Defense of Ukraine," which includes exercises of a similar nature. We conducted a pedagogical experiment using the "grenade throwing" exercise from an experimental military-historical reenactment method. This article presents the results of high school students who performed grenade throwing from various positions and aimed at different targets. To ensure reliable data, control and experimental groups were organized, and both ascertaining and transformative experiments were conducted. We developed a program for the military-historical reenactment method, which integrates physical education, history, and the Defense of Ukraine. All exercises and activities were designed with a historical context and aimed at preparing youth for the defense of the state. The purpose of the study was to present the results of the transformative experiment conducted as part of the research. Specifically, the study focused on examining the qualitative changes in the "Grenade Throwing for Accuracy" exercise. Materials and methods. At the start of the implementation of the author's program, the students were divided into control and experimental groups. Two tests were conducted—one at the beginning and one after the completion of the program. Mathematical statistics methods were employed in the data processing. Main research findings. At the beginning of the study, the performance indicators of students in both the control and experimental groups were similar (Table 1). Under the influence of the author's physical education program, which incorporated elements of military-historical reenactment, significant improvements were observed in the grenade-throwing accuracy of the boys in the experimental group, specifically when throwing from behind cover at a vertical target (p<0.001). As a result, by the end of the study, the students in the experimental group significantly outperformed those in the control group (p<0.05), indicating the effectiveness of the experimental physical education program using military-historical reenactment techniques for this particular aspect of grenade-throwing. The lack of significant changes in the results of other test exercises can be attributed to the short duration of the experiment; for the girls, the small sample size may have also contributed to the lack of statistically significant results. Under the conditions of the pedagogical experiment, significant (p<0.01-0.001) positive changes were observed in the grenade-throwing accuracy of students from both groups (control and experimental) when throwing from a prone position behind cover at a horizontal target. As a result, by the end of the experiment, no significant differences were observed between the groups. This indicates that our physical education program using military-historical reenactment techniques and the traditional physical education program are equally effective in improving grenade-throwing accuracy from a prone position behind cover at a horizontal target. In the first exercise, the improvement in results across both groups was not significant, indicating the similarity of the exercises to the curriculum of the "Defense of Ukraine" subject. However, the accuracy rate of the experimental group (EG) was higher. In the fourth exercise, the improvement in results among the boys in the control group (CG) was influenced by the "Defense of Ukraine" curriculum, which did not yield results in the CG girls. Meanwhile, the boys in the EG demonstrated higher scores, indicating a greater impact from the experimental program. Conclusions. The experimental physical education program that incorporates elements of military-historical reenactment has a more positive impact on the results of grenade throwing for accuracy, both when standing behind cover at a vertical target and when throwing from a kneeling position behind cover at a horizontal target, compared to the traditional program.
