Clinical symptoms in rheumatology
Rheumatology is a branch of internal medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. The term «rheumatology» is based on the fusion of the words «rheuma », meaning «flow», and «logos», meaning «study». Thus, the rheumatology study focuses on inflammatory and degenerative dystrophic diseases affecting joints, as well as systemic diseases of connective tissue (previously referred to as collagenoses). The diversity and polymorphism of clinical symptoms of connective tissue diseases often lead to difficulties in diagnosis and timely initiation of treatment.
