Construction and Validation of the Physical Activity Barriers Scale for Adolescent Girls Based on Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence Technology

Physical inactivity has become a global public health issue. For children and adolescents, sufficient physical activity not only benefits their growth and development but also impacts their physical and mental health in adulthood. This study established the initial items of the Physical Activity Barriers Scale for Adolescent Girls based on a literature review, expert panel discussions, and the Delphi method. The final scale was formed through item analysis and reliability testing. The Physical Activity Barriers Scale for Girls in Adolescence includes 4 dimensions, including physical, emotional, sociocultural, and environmental factors, with a total of 18 question items. The Delphi method and exploratory factor analysis together extracted four common factors, with a cumulative explained variance of 64.47%; the results of the validated factor analysis showed that the model fit was good. The standardized coefficients of each question item of each dimension of the scale were greater than 0.5, the combined reliability was 0.86, 0.92, 0.81, 0.87, and the average variance extracted (AVE) of the four factors was 0.61, 0.67, 0.60, 0.71, respectively, and all the criteria were met. Therefore, the Physical Activity Barriers Scale for Adolescent Girls demonstrates good reliability and validity, making it suitable for related research.
