ECONOMIC ESSENCE OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

This study aims to determine sustainable tourism's conceptual and categorical essence and analyze its key aspects, particularly economic, social, environmental, and innovative components. The topic is relevant due to the need to introduce sustainable development principles into Ukraine's tourism industry, especially in global challenges like climate change, economic instability, and post-war recovery. Sustainable tourism is seen as a tool to ensure the balanced development of tourist regions with harmonious consideration of visitors' needs, local communities, and the environment. The results of the study show that sustainable tourism is a multidimensional concept that covers the following key categories: environmental (conservation of natural resources, waste management, minimization of environmental impact), social (protection of cultural heritage, involvement of local communities in the management of tourism processes), economic (support for local business, job creation, financial stability of regions) and innovative (use of digital platforms and energy-efficient technologies). The study focuses on the fact that the harmonious combination of these categories contributes to achieving the long-term sustainability of tourism. An important role is played by the involvement of local communities, which can be active participants in developing and implementing tourism projects and preserving natural and cultural heritage. The practical value of the article lies in the formation of conceptual foundations for the introduction of sustainable approaches in the tourism industry. The proposed recommendations aim to improve the management of tourism resources, support regions' economic sustainability, and preserve cultural and natural heritage. Public authorities, tour operators, and local communities can use the study materials to develop strategies for sustainable tourism development in Ukraine. The work results also contribute to integrating innovative solutions into the tourism sector, which ensures the competitiveness of regions in the international market and supports the harmonious development of tourist areas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine sustainable tourism's conceptual and categorical essence and analyze its key aspects, particularly economic, social, environmental, and innovative components. The topic is relevant due to the need to introduce sustainable development principles into Ukraine's tourism industry, especially in global challenges like climate change, economic instability, and post-war recovery. Sustainable tourism is seen as a tool to ensure the balanced development of tourist regions with harmonious consideration of visitors' needs, local communities, and the environment.
