Communication Agenda, Transnational Development and Diplomacy: Public Assessment of the Belt and Roads Initiative in Select African Countries
This study focuses on communication agendas, transnational development, and diplomacy through the assessment of the Belt and Road Initiative in selected African countries. The goals deal with the ways the public learns about BRI development, the level of public awareness, the main economic contribution, and the area that the public values the most in certain African countries as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. We adopted the online survey method with a population of 353,117,764 and a sample size of 800. The development, communication, and modernization theories formed the framework. Findings showed that the degree of public awareness about BRI projects and programmes, out of 800 persons in four African countries, was high at 406, or 51 percent response. The conclusion reflected positive transnational development and diplomacy through the BRI. It recommended that the programme initiators apply a multimedia approach rather than restricting information to only the use of mainstream media of radio and television.
