Modern motor transport of the mining complex: challenges and solutions

The paper describes the challenges associated with motor transport in the mining industry, including the fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. The possibilities of comparing the efficiency of a fleet consisting of different models of motor transport for specific natural, climatic and geographical conditions with account of specific features of open pits, described in this paper, as well as the choice of the most adequate of the admissible options, can be realised through the use of modern information technologies and intelligent systems. The authors propose a method that increases the efficiency of addressing the challenge to optimally select both the type of vehicle fleet structure in the mining industry and the number of vehicles in this fleet by creating an intelligent system. Implementation of the developed algorithms using the tested methods and open information resources will allow to choose the most efficient structure of the open-pit motor transport. This will improve the safety of both the mining industry complex and its personnel, which is especially important for implementation of the strategic projects in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation.
