Inverse-System Based Hybrid Control for Wind Turbines in the Near-Rated Wind Speed
To address the challenges of power loss and rotor overspeed in wind turbines operating near rated wind conditions, this paper proposes an enhanced control strategy. The method integrates a hybrid control approach based on an inverse system, combining the optimized static control variables of the inverse system with the fast dynamic response of a dual PI controller. Precalculated inverse system control values for generator torque and blade pitch compensate for phase delays and optimize rotor speed performance. The distributed weights between inverse system control and dual PI control are dynamically adjusted on the basis of the rotor and wind speed. Comparative studies demonstrate that the proposed strategy increases power generation while reducing tower and blade root fatigue loads, leading to better electrical power control performance in near-rated wind conditions.
