Method for Increasing Equivalent Damping in DC Voltage Synchronization Control Based on an Additional High-Pass Filter Forward Path

Grid-forming converters based on direct current (DC) voltage synchronization can stabilize the DC side voltage while achieving self-synchronization of the converter. However, traditional DC voltage synchronization(DVS) introduces issues with low-frequency oscillations. To investigate the mechanisms of these low-frequency oscillations, a small-signal model for DVS was developed. The analysis revealed that DVS control introduces a 180° phase lag, leading to low-frequency oscillation problems due to the system's loop gain. Based on this analysis, an improved DVS control method incorporating a high-pass filter in the forward path was presented to achieve damping control and oscillation suppression in the low-frequency range. In the end, the effects of the presented method was validated through simulations.
