An Unusual Schwannoma Involving Posterior Interosseous Nerve: A Case Report

Abstract Schwannomas represent the most prevalent benign tumors of peripheral nerves. Their diagnosis often experiences delays due to slow growth and the adaptability of the nervous system to increased volume. Utilizing ultrasound sonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilitates accurate diagnosis. Optimal outcomes, coupled with recurrence prevention, are achieved through precise enucleation. This report details an exceptional case involving a schwannoma of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) that remained asymptomatic for three years before surgical excision. Postoperatively, the patient experienced transient finger drop, gradually improving with physiotherapy.
