Leakage Behaviour of Particles Subjected to Gravity Flow with 3D Filter by DEM
Abstract A three dimensional filter could have a long-term prevention of leakage particle and maintenance of drainage performance instead of geomaterial filter. This paper evaluates the leakage behaviour of particles with the 3D filter using DEM analysis. It was concluded that the diamond structured filter showed more leakage of particles than 2D filter. 3D filter had a higher leakage rate. The maximum opening ratio indicating particle leakage was 0.6 for the diamond structured filter and 0.52 for the two-dimensional filter.
