AGRORIUM: A Study on Reinforcing Sustainable Urban Farming & Food Sufficiency through Agritecture in Davao City, Philippines
Urban agriculture improves food security, public health, social interaction, and environmental conservation. This study highlights challenges in sustainable urban farming in the Philippines, including rapid urbanization, population growth, land use changes, and ecological degradation which contribute to food insecurity. Despite these issues, urban farming offers potential benefits through innovative growing systems and smart technologies. The study proposes creating a vertical farm complex in Davao City, using smart indoor farming and Henry Gordon-Smith's Agritecture principles to boost resource efficiency, ecological restoration, public health, advancing urban agriculture and food security.
