A Framework for Competitive Evaluation of Low Resource Online Games

The rapid growth in business digitization has led to a large pool of e-products which includes online games. Based on our study of literature, Ludo king and Carrom Disc Pool are the two most downloaded games from Play store in 2020 - 2024. Such games are referred as low resource games since these require low gaming skills from users as well as low-end hardware specification on the host system. In this paper, we evaluate competitive performance of Ludo King vs. Carrom Disc Pool based on user ratings of UI/UX attributes collected as survey response from 40 users. The proposed feature space has 22 user features and 3 global features that generate user data as ratings on sentiment scale of {-1, 0, 1}. The competitive framework shown in this paper, for the first time, develops and analyzes the following performance related aspects for Ludo King and Carrom Disc Pool: (i) Intra-game competitive analysis: ranking User features and Global features using meanvariance analysis, (ii) Inter-game competitive analysis: Feature wise winner between Ludo King and Carrom Disc Pool based on the formulated Discriminant-index. Our framework is demonstrated for low resource games, the competitive theme presented using mean-variance and Discriminant can be made applicable to propose a novel rating framework for several other e-products. The experimental analysis shows that aggregate Discriminant-index denoting competitive strength of Ludo King vs. Carrom Disc Pool is 0.17 for User features and 0.06 for Global features, thereby Ludo King emerges as the competitive winner in this study.
