Cryptographic Algorithm for Security of Sensor Data Communication in IoT Applications
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of worldwide connected objects that can communicate via the Internet. With the increases interconnection of intelligent objects, IoT generates enormous amounts of data that need storage, transfer, and processing, making a critical concern for data security. The cryptography offers provides vital security services like confidentiality, authentication, authorization, and integrity that are important in an era where IoT devices consistently generate data, and being saved in cloud server. This paper proposes a security algorithm for IoT applications, for data security through the XRSA encryption algorithm. The scheme uses four large random prime numbers to create public-private key pairs and utilizes an XOR operation along with complex intermediate processes during key generation, encryption, and decryption. This approach increases algorithm complexity, making it highly resistant for any attacks and improving security. The proposed method is executed for sensor data security in a smart home application using Raspberry Pi 4. Comparative analysis with existing RSA-based algorithms shows that the proposed algorithm provides superior performance and security.
