Primary immune thrombocytopenia (to help the practitioner)

Thrombocytopenia (TP) is a pressing problem of modern medicine and can be encountered in the practice of a doctor of any specialty. TP has different origins; in this regard, establishing the specific cause of a decrease in the level of platelets in the blood is often a complex task which is necessary to address, since the patient’s management tactics will largely depend on it. The most common immune TP is associated with increased destruction of platelets by antibodies. In turn, immune TP can be primary, not associated with any disease, as well as secondary, developing in the course of a particular nosology. Diagnosis of primary immune TP is often a complex and lengthy process. The article provides a classification of TP depending on its origin. In accordance with the National Guidelines, data on the causes of development, clinical picture, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and approaches to the treatment of immune primary TP are covered.
