METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK FOR COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF ENTERPRISES' COMPETITIVENESS

It has been proven that the development of a methodological framework for assessing the competitiveness of enterprises is both a relevant scientific field and an important practical task. Its resolution will enhance the analytical foundation for determining the competitive development prospects of market participants. A critical analysis of recent scientific publications reveals three approaches to determining the level of competitiveness: based on matrix analysis of competitiveness factors, focusing on individual defining indicators, and through the integration of a set of interconnected indicators. The problematic aspects of existing approaches to assessing competitiveness are identified as follows: the matrix approach serves as a tool for investigating the state and potential changes in the competitive characteristics of market participants, rather than directly assessing the competitiveness of enterprises; focusing on individual defining indicators does not allow for a comprehensive evaluation of the competitive capabilities of enterprises; and the use of a set of evaluation indicators lacks sufficient justification for their composition, which is due to the contradictory understanding of the content of competitiveness. The article presents a methodological framework for the comprehensive assessment of enterprise competitiveness, which is based on the author's perspective on the subject of competition, the scope of competition for enterprises in key resource markets, and the species differentiation of competitiveness, reflecting its complex nature. Basic indicators have been identified for evaluating realized, functional, and potential competitiveness in the product market, labor market, and investment market. A general algorithm for calculating the level of competitiveness based on sectoral and status characteristics has been proposed, ensuring comparability of the results among the studied competing enterprises. The obtained results are the outcome of applying the economic-statistical method of evaluation, based on the differentiation of types of competitiveness, which enables well-grounded managerial decisions to be made regarding the achievement of target levels of competitiveness for enterprises.
