Increasing the dynamics of transient modes of turbocharged diesel engines

The article is devoted to the analysis of existing directions and methods of influencing the dynamic qualities of turbocharged diesel engines. The relevance is determined by the need for a well-founded choice of directions and methods for increasing the technical and economic indicators of diesel engines of all types and areas of application. The article examines the features of the transient modes of load acceptance and acceleration under load, and concludes that the factors determining the duration of these modes are identical. A classification of methods for increasing dynamics is proposed, a diagram is presented and analyzed, summarizing the results of the research performed, reflecting the effectiveness and scope of application of the methods depending on the mean effective pressure. Keywords diesel engine, turbocharger, turbocharging system, transient mode, turbo lag, load acceptance, acceleration under load, electrically assisted turbocharger, air inject, electric compressor
