TEMPERATURE INDUCED CHROMIC EFFECTS IN COBALT-FORMATE COORDINATION POLYMERS
Abstract Coordination polymers (CPs) have garnered tremendous attention as a fascinating category of crystalline materials with an extensive array of structural and functional possibilities. In this work, we synthesized Cobalt-Formate coordination polymers using the solvothermal method. Characterizations techniques such as Fourier Transform attenuated total reflection infrared spectra (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy, Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD) analysis, Ultraviolet-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-DRS), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), EDX-Mapping and Photoluminescence (PL) studies were performed. The optical bandgap was determined using Tauc Plot and was calculated to be 4.45 eV, suggesting the material is a wide-bandgap semiconductor. The material exhibited excellent thermochromism and luminescent properties. The material exhibit color changes beyond 150°C from red to pink color, making it a potential high-temperature sensor.
