Design of high voltage envelope tracking power supply based on multilevel architecture

Abstract In this paper, a series-connected high-voltage envelope tracking(ET) power supply based on a multilevel architecture is designed, which consists of a step-wave generation unit (Multi-Level Stage, MLS) and a linear amplifier (Linear Stage, LS) connected in series with it. This design reduces the losses by lowering the voltage at both ends of the LS. It proposes a Linear Stage design that allows the ET power supply to have a wider output voltage range for today’s high peak-to-average-ratio (PAPR) signals. Finally, after testing the monophonic and broadband signals at four frequencies, it is shown that the designed system can realize the tracking of signals with a PAPR of 10.34 dB and a bandwidth of 2 MHz. At the same time, it has an average power output of 18.72 W and a high linearity characteristic.
