France of Louis XIV in the Foreign-Policy Project of Ukrainian Hetman Iwan Samojłowicz (1684)
This paper examines the project of the union of Russia and France, as the strongest European state, proposed by the Left-Bank Ukrainian Hetman Iwan Samojlowicz to the Russian government, against the Ottoman Empire, which conquered Austria. It is notable that a political entity that had no contacts with France had developed an idea about high military-political capabilities of the French kingdom.
