Awards of Northern Europe in the State-legal Status of the Russian Ruling Dynasty

At various historical stages, pre-revolutionary Russia and the countries of Northern Europe were linked by complex foreign policy relations. However, the awarding of the highest insignia of Sweden, Denmark and Norway was an integral part of the state and legal status of the rulers of the Russian Empire. It should be noted that the awarding of the Orders of Northern Europe to Russian emperors and empresses confirmed the role of the Russian state in world politics as one of the leading world powers. The author identifies and characterizes the patterns of awarding Swedish, Danish and Norwegian higher orders within the framework of the recognition of the state-legal status of the Russian ruling dynasty.
