GENERATION AND RECEPTION OF LOW-ORDER OPTICAL VORTEX BEAMS USING A PHOTONIC INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
Optical vortex beams are special light structures with unique properties that make them attractive for practical use in science and technology areas. The topological charge of an optical vortex beam can take integer values, which allows encoding data in the form of different states of orbital angular momentum.. This makes them ideal for high-speed data transmission, where information needs to be protected from interference and loss. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of generating and receiving low-order optical vortex beams using a microring resonator. In the result of analytical calculations, required number of lattice elements was calculated to obtain low orders of orbital an-gular momentum. The model was verified in the Ansys Lumerical environment, resulting in the development of a model of a microring resonator emitting optical vortex beams with topological charges l1=3 and l2=2 for resonant wavelengths. respectively.
