The evolution of the image of weapons in the prose of Vladislav Krapivin
The presented article is devoted to the study of the work of the famous Russian children's writer Vladislav Krapivin. The relevance of this study is due to the lack of works that reveal the problems of the image system in V. P. Krapivin's prose. The purpose of the work is to describe the evolution of the image of weapons in V. P. Krapivin's prose throughout the writer's creative career. The object of the analysis is individual short stories, novellas, and novels created by V. P. Krapivin at different times – at the stages of the author's early (1960s), middle (1970s–1980s), and late (1990s–2000s) creative work. According to the results of the study, it was found that in Krapivin's early work, homemade weapons in children's games reflected the Soviet concept of military-patriotic education, military toys instilled in the "Krapivin boys" respect for weapons that serve to protect the Motherland. During the period of his romantic work (the 1970s and 1980s), the sword became Krapivinsky's favorite weapon. In the novel "The Boy with the Sword" (1975), classes at the fencing club play a key role in Seryozha's moral development: imitating the Mus keteers from the books of A. Dumas, the boy strengthens his self-esteem, selflessly defends the truth and pro tects his friends. Since the 1990s, the image of weapons in Vladislav Krapivin's prose has become emphatically negative. In conditions of political chaos, internecine wars, and terrorist attacks, weapons appear to be a source of death, pain, and destruction. In Krapivin's post-Soviet works, the characters feel hatred for the weapons that broke their destinies, and toy weapons disappear from children's amusements. The writer takes the position of pacifism. This work contributes to the study of the system of images and the problems of the creative evolution of Vladislav Krapivin's prose and opens up prospects for further research in this field.
