The activity of Voronezh archivists in collecting captured documentary materials after the liberation of the city and region (1943)
For the first time in historiography, the article examines the activities of employees of the De partment of State Archives of the NKVD and the State Archive of the Voronezh Region in searching for captured documents in the liberated territory of the region. The collection of documents began in December 1942 and ended in 1944. The operational group of archivists, which arrived in Voronezh in February 1943, initially con sisted of 4 people. G. I. Fedyanin, A. P. Rodakovsky, M. P. Bashlykova, A. A. Kulinchenko and others took an ac tive part in the work. The article is based on the materials of the fund of the Main Archival Administration of the NKVD of the USSR (GARF, F. R-5325), the Archival Department of the Voronezh Region (GAVO, F. R-98) using other unpublished and published sources. Its purpose is to highlight the measures taken by the Department of State Archives to organize this work: sending employees to the liberated areas, informing the population, and involving Soviet authorities in the work. The article indicates the ways of completing archives with discovered documents, their types and circumstances of transfer to other departments. The management of the Depart ment's work by the Main Archival Administration of the NKVD of the USSR is highlighted. It is concluded that, despite the difficult working conditions (destroyed infrastructure, mines, lack of personnel) and lack of experi ence, several thousand units of storage of enemy documents and acts of atrocities of the invaders were collect ed. The materials of the article can become the basis for further study of a number of problems of the history of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the fate of archivists who worked in liberated Voronezh.
