Composite ScCeSZ–YSZ ceramics for solid oxide fuel cell electrolyte

Composite ceramics obtained by 10Sc1CeSZ and 8YSZ powders sintering are proposed to be used as a material for the electrolyte of solid oxide fuel cells. The regularities of the formation of the structure and mechanical properties of such ceramics depending on the initial composition of the powder mixtures are studied. With an increase in the content of 8YSZ ceramics in the 10Sc1CeSZ8YSZ composite samples (within 33–90 mass%), the porosity and the grain size decrease, which is accompanied first by an increase of its strength, and at the ratio of the initial powders of 50/50 and above – by its stabilization.
