While the act of self-disclosure poses a potential threat to the speaker's negative face, it fulfills the need for positive face. Women engage in self-disclosure significantly more frequently than men, with almost double the rate. Regarding the type of self-disclosure, "excessive empathy" is prevalent among both men and women. Analysis of women's conversational data shows that women are more likely to initiate and participate in discussions on various topics, suggesting that women prefer to increase FTAs (Face-Threatening Acts) when seeking balance.自己開示は、他者と共通の経験や感情を共有することで信頼を高め、相互理解を深めていく重要な手段である。自己開示の行為は、話し手に潜在的なネガティブ·フェイスの脅威を与える一方、ポジティブ·フェイスのニーズを満たしている。女性は男性よりも自己開示の頻度が著しく高く、ほぼ2倍だった。自己開示のタイプに関しては、「過剰共感」が男女ともに蔓延している。女性の会話データの分析によると、女性はさまざまなトピックについての議論を開始し、参加する傾向が高いことが示されており、これは女性がバランスを求める際に「FTAを増やす」行動を好むことを示唆している。
