Spatial Storytelling and Fantasy in Tourism: Focusing on Jeju Snoopy Garden
This study explores how spatial storytelling and fantasy elements impact visitor experience and destination differentiation in tourism. Analyzing storytelling components―theme, plot, and spatial presentation―along with fantasy-driven narrative consistency and variation, this research identifies their role in enhancing immersive engagement. Findings indicate that spatial storytelling enhances emotional connections through personal nostalgia, experiences, and interactive design. In Jeju Snoopy Garden, spaces themed around friendship, relaxation, and imagination evoke memories and engagement. The connection between indoor narrative spaces and outdoor interactive experiences enhances visitor immersion, reinforcing belonging and nostalgia. Fantasy elements―such as exaggerated spatial transformations and whimsical storytelling―strengthen engagement, making experiences more memorable. These insights provide implications for utilizing storytelling and fantasy in tourism development to create distinctive destinations.
