Glucose mediated one-pot synthesis of RGO-Fe3O4 hybrid composite for electrochemical determination of uric acid
RGO-Fe3O4 composite is investigated as prospective options for improving the signal responsiveness of a modified electrode which is able to detect biologically essential molecules like uric acid (UA), a crucial biomarker for gout and kidney stones. A green approach was adopted for the synthesis of this composite using glucose as the green reducing agent. Graphene oxide was reduced to graphene and RGO-Fe3O4 composite was synthesised using a one-pot hydrothermal technique. The result revealed that, as compared to a bare electrode, the fabricated electrode using RGO-Fe3O4 exhibits good electrochemical oxidation of UA. The linear range of working of the RGO-Fe3O4 modified platinum electrode (RGO-Fe3O4/Pt) is 1 × 10–6 to 4 × 10–4 M, with a measured limit of detection of 4.52 × 10–7 M for UA. Furthermore, the modified electrode was assessed by measuring the concentration of uric acid in artificial samples.
