A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge attitude regarding behavioral problems of children 6-12 years among mothers in selected rural area, Dahod in the year 2023

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme on the knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding behavioral problems in children aged 6-12 years in selected rural areas of Dahod. Behavioral and emotional problems in children can lead to long-term developmental issues, affecting their mental health. Recent studies show that these disorders are prevalent worldwide, with a significant impact on children’s overall development. In this experimental study, 50 mothers from rural areas participated, with a pre-test conducted to evaluate their initial knowledge and attitudes, followed by the implementation of a structured teaching programme. The post-test results indicated a significant improvement in both knowledge and attitude scores. The mean post-test knowledge score was 22.14, compared to the pre-test score of 10.32, with a significant difference (p<0.05). Similarly, the attitude score improved from 19.08 to 23.24 (p<0.05). The findings concluded that the structured teaching programme was highly effective in enhancing mothers' knowledge and attitudes towards behavioral problems in children. Limitations included the small sample size and the absence of a control group. Further research with a larger sample and control group is recommended for more robust generalization of the results.
