Red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) breeding performance in Shirpur, Maharashtra, India

During the months of April to July 2021, the breeding performance of the Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) was researched in the Shirpur district of Maharashtra. The population of P. cafer was found to be more abundant in the research area's human habitat region than in the non-human habitat region. In this area, the Red-vented Bulbul is a common breeder bird. During the study period, nests were spotted in a location where an indoor plant (purple house plant) was growing. In 2021, the breeding season lasted from April through July. P. cafer prefers to nest in tiny, leafy, and dense shrubs in general. As a nesting location, it prefers a variety of plant species. The hatching is discovered. The formation of pairs in red-vented bulbuls begins in April. The pair then chooses a nesting place, and both partners actively participate in the nesting process. Bulbul prefers to make his nest in a 5 meter high structure. The nesting phase lasted around 14 days. Both parents look after their young fledglings, feeding and training them to avoid predators and fly.
