PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL DETERMINANTS OF NATIONAL IDENTITY AS THE BASIS OF ITS FORMATION IN SENIOR STUDENTS IN EXTRA-CURRICULAR WORK

The article reveals the psychological and pedagogical determinants of national identity as the basis for its formation in high school students in extracurricular work. It is established that they are the basis for its formation in high school students, which are revealed taking into account the mental neoplasms of high school age. The possibility of forming national identity with the help of psychological determinants is determined: the ability to conceptual forms of thinking, the direction of which is determined by the need for self-determination and the formation of the student’s worldview; qualitative changes in the high school student’s self-esteem, caused, on the one hand, by the orientation in assessments to one’s own ideals, and on the other ‒ by an increase in the cognitive complexity of the characteristics of objects or phenomena to be assessed; intensification of reflection and its importance in the mechanism of identity formation ‒ assimilation and accommodation; changes in the motivational sphere of high school students. The concept of “national identity” is defined as an integral personal formation associated with the awareness of one’s belonging to the society of citizens of a particular state on a general cultural basis, which reflects the value-motivational orientation of the individual in relation to cultural, socio-political, legal, economic phenomena in modern society and determines the features and degree of his civic activity. As a psychological and pedagogical determinant of the national identity of high school students, the following are determined: by the cognitive component ‒ the ability to conceptualize in the field of civic issues; by the emotional-evaluative component ‒ the combination of the valence of national identity and the level of reflexivity of the individual; by the need-motivational component ‒ the nature of the structural organization of the motivation for civic activity. The following key age features that determine the possibility of forming national identity through psychological and pedagogical determinants in senior school age were identified: the ability to conceptual forms of thinking, the direction of which is determined by the need for self-determination and the formation of the student’s worldview, qualitative changes in self-esteem, the motivational sphere of a senior school student, intensification and its role in the mechanism of identity formation ‒ assimilation and accommodation.
