DEVELOPMENT, PATENTING, AND APPLICATION OF THE REVERSE OPERATIONAL DESIGN METHOD FOR TECHNICAL OBJECTS IN TECHNOLOGY LESSONS
Authors of various methodologies have always faced the question of how to patent an original pedagogical method. Therefore, this article focuses on the patenting of pedagogical methods in different countries and in Ukraine.During the development of the “Reverse Operational Design Method” various design and engineering methods patented in different countries were analyzed. The sequence of stages for applying the method was described, and the methodology was illustrated with diagrams of its implementation stages.Based on an analysis of Ukrainian patent legislation, it was concluded that the pedagogical methodology of Reverse Operational Design, which develops and improves students’ technological training, is not subject to patenting. However, a pedagogical methodology described in literary sources can be an object of copyright protection. The article concludes that the patenting of pedagogical methods has only been practiced abroad. According to the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Rights to Inventions and Utility Models” a pedagogical method cannot be patented since it does not yield a technical result.Based on the analysis of various methodologies, we have developed the “Reverse Operational Design Method” which can be considered an object of copyright protection as described in literary sources, for which a copyright certificate has been obtained. The conclusions of the article outline prospects for further research, indicating that improving the technological training of high school students using the “Reverse Operational Design Method” will be conducted exclusively through the use of computers with specialized software, involving the development of 3D models and subsequent printing of the developed models on 3D printers.
