Abstract Bumblebee ( Bombus terrestris ) is currently the only reported invertebrate known to demonstrate string‐pulling behavior to obtain rewards. When confronted with string‐pulling tasks, bees strategically integrate floral associations with physical tool properties in their decision‐making process. Intriguingly, when forced to choose between conflicting cues, the bees prioritize learned string characteristics over innate floral preferences. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the cognitive processes involved in non‐natural task‐solving in insects (see pages 675–686). Image provided by Chao Wen.
