Ukraine's relations with small Pacific Island countries

The article studies the current state of Ukraine's international relations with small island countries of the Pacific region and the current areas of cooperation between Ukraine and small Pacific countries. Diplomacy is the basis of international cooperation, which allows Ukraine to expand its influence at the global level and attract the support of Pacific countries in multilateral organizations such as the UN. The prospects for the development of economic cooperation, in particular through the export of Ukrainian agricultural and industrial products, as well as the implementation of investment projects in the agricultural sector, fish processing and renewable energy, were assessed. The scientific novelty of this study lies in a comprehensive analysis of relations between Ukraine and small island countries of the Pacific region, which previously remained practically unexplored in the context of Ukrainian foreign policy. The study offers new approaches to understanding the mechanisms of interaction between Ukraine and island countries, taking into account the specifics of their economic, socio-cultural and geopolitical situation, in particular, the factors of strategic importance of strengthening cooperation with Pacific countries for expanding Ukraine's multi-vector foreign policy and forming its positive image in the global arena are identified. The study also reveals new opportunities for deepening economic relations, in particular in the agricultural sector, trade, investment, as well as in the field of humanitarian and cultural cooperation. Recommendations were formed to expand Ukraine's diplomatic presence in this region and create new mechanisms of interaction at the level of multilateral organizations. The practical value of the study lies in the possibility of using its results in the formation and implementation of Ukraine's foreign policy in the Pacific region. The conclusions and recommendations obtained can be applied by state bodies, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to develop strategies for cooperation with small island countries of the Pacific. The study also provides a rationale for concluding new trade agreements, intensifying investment projects, and supporting educational and cultural programs that will help strengthen economic and humanitarian ties.
