Effect of ion-implantation activation of surface of structural steels 40Kh and 40KhN on structure and properties of nitrided layer
The influence of medium-energy (about 25 keV) ion-implantation activation of the material of the surface layer of 40X and 40KHN structural steels on the structure and properties of the nitrided layer obtained under conditions of ion nitriding in a glow discharge is considered. The positive effect of ion implantation activation of the surface is shown, which provides, due to the long-range effect, an increased density of defects in the crystal structure and, as a result, an intensification of diffusion processes and an increase in the homogeneity of the nitrided layer. The results of comparative metallographic studies of nitrided layers obtained using traditional and developed nitriding technology are presented.
