Dimming Control Scheme for Multi-LED Visible Light Communication with Individual Power Constraints

The visible light communication (VLC), as an emerging form of indoor wireless communication, encompasses both lighting and data transmission functionalities. Dimming control is regarded as a pivotal aspect of lighting functions, attracting significant attention from researchers. However, the existing dimming control schemes for multi-LED VLC primarily focus on scenarios where each LED has identical power constraints and dimming levels. In this paper, we propose a scheme for the multi-input single-output (MISO) VLC system with dimming control, where each LED is subject to individual power constraints and dimming levels. By maximizing the minimum Euclidean distance (MED) of the received signal, we present a dimming control scheme based on the optimal dimming signal. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed scheme achieves a larger MED of the received signal compared to the comparison scheme and exhibits superior bit error performance.
