Advanced Simulation Control and Real-Time Monitoring for Carla: Agile Development of a Web-Based Interface

CARLA, an open-source simulator for autonomous vehicle research, is known for its comprehensive capabilities but also its complexity, which requires substantial technical expertise and limits broader usage. This paper introduces a web-based user interface (UI) designed to simplify access to CARLA's advanced features, enabling users to control simulation parameters and monitor simulations in real-time without extensive programming skills. Employing an agile development methodology, the UI was developed through iterative sprints, allowing for continuous feedback and incremental improvements. Key features include advanced simulation control, dynamic real-time monitoring, and seamless integration with CARLA's environment. Extensive testing ensured the system's reliability, efficiency, and scalability. The new web-based UI for CARLA significantly lowers the entry barrier for users, enhancing the simulator's overall effectiveness. This development is poised to accelerate innovation in autonomous driving technologies by making CARLA more accessible, fostering collaboration, and enabling wider participation in the field.
