NuMI beamline and Machine Learning Applications using Muon Monitors at Fermilab

The Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) beamline at Fermilab generates an intense muon neutrino beam for the NOvA (NuMI Off-axis νe Appearance) long-baseline neutrino experiment. This talk will provide an overview of the NuMI beamline, highlighting its components, recent upgrades, and operational advancements. In addition, we will discuss the application of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms developed to predict anomalies and monitor beam operation conditions.

Abstract

The Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) beamline at Fermilab generates an intense muon neutrino beam for the NOvA (NuMI Off-axis νe Appearance) long-baseline neutrino experiment. This talk will provide an overview of the NuMI beamline, highlighting its components, recent upgrades, and operational advancements. In addition, we will discuss the application of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms developed to predict anomalies and monitor beam operation conditions.
