The 1960 US-Japan Security Treaty in American Media Coverage
The article examines the problem of differences in the reactions of American pro-democratic and pro-republican media, American society and political parties to the 1960 Treaty on Mutual Cooperation and Security Guarantees between the United States and Japan. A conclusion is drawn about how the political landscape of American society influenced the perception of the defense alliance with Japan by American public opinion. In this case, a key role was played by Japan's prospective integration into the military-political context of the regional theater of the Cold War in the Asia-Pacific region.
