Feasibility Study of Organic Acid as Electrolyte in Lead Acid Battery for Green Energy

Modern civilization uses huge amount of electrical power. Most of this power is generated by using fossil fuel which is non-renewable and we cannot produce it according to our desire. If this condition continues, modern civilization will face great difficulties. In this case, energy solution in future will greatly depend upon the uses of renewable energy. Keeping this concept in mind, a work has been designed and developed by using different organic acid-rich juice to generate bioelectricity. Bioelectricity is a new term in the field of bio-energy. The technology of bioelectricity generation in forms of fuel cell is microbial fuel cell. In this study, we focused on the development of a fuel cell to generate electricity from organic acid-rich biomass such as lemon (Citrus Limon), Bilimbi fruit (Averrhoa Bilimbi) and Patharkuchi leaf (Bryophyllum Pinnatum) without having any CO2 emission to the atmosphere. In this study, we used these organic acids as electrolytes in batteries. The performance of these batteries was tested by measuring open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, and capacity. We also examined how factors like electrode spacing, pH levels, electrolyte concentration, and time influenced the battery’s performance. Finally, an idea of an electrolyte flowing system has been designed and implemented to increase the ions movement and maintain the output voltage constant. We have also proposed to implement this idea in industry which will produce power as well as reduce the acidity of liquid waste before disposing it to the environment.

Abstract

Finally, an idea of an electrolyte flowing system has been designed and implemented to increase the ions movement and maintain the output voltage constant. We have also proposed to implement this idea in industry which will produce power as well as reduce the acidity of liquid waste before disposing it to the environment.
