Factibilidad de organización en la comunidad nahuahablante de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Sonsonate, El Salvador, respecto a la conservación de la lengua náhuat

The research aims to identify the feasibility of organization in the nahuat-speaking community of the district of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, department of Sonsonate, El Salvador, regarding the preservation of the nahuat language. The issue is addressed from a territorial perspective, evaluating various contextual, cultural, socio-economic, and political factors that affect the viability of community organization. Resuming the systemic approach proposed by Boisier (1997), the interaction of multiple elements within the territorial system is considered, including economic, social, environmental, political, and cultural aspects. The study employs thematic analysis to identify and communicate significant patterns in the data collected through semi-structured interviews with community members and relevant actors of the district. Feasibility is evaluated in operational, technical, economic, ethical, legal and temporal terms. The importance of community participation and cultural identity is emphasized for sustainable territorial development. It is concluded that, although there are significant efforts in the conservation of the nahuat language, community organization faces challenges due to limitations related to the cultural dynamics present in the community that determine thoughts, actions and relationships between its members. However, opportunities are identified to improve organizational feasibility through increased collaboration and a more structured and systematic approach. To this end, a territorial planning model called “nahuat work circles” is proposed to empower the nahuat-speaking community and those involved in conservation efforts, enabling unified work and vehicular use of the language within the territory of Santo Domingo de Guzmán.
